OJT Cause Effect Matrix

After mastering the basic principles of instrumentation and control, an Instrument Engineer must also be skilled at preparing the engineering document that represents the action and reaction relationships between sensors and final elements, called Cause and Effect. This document is prepared during the engineering phase and is later used by the vendor to build the logic program in the control system.

In this Cause and Effect training you will study the following topics:

- Understanding the P&ID and related documents such as the Single Line Diagram, Fire&Gas Detector Layout and other documents.

- Understanding the shutdown hierarchy on an oil and gas platform/plant

- Reviewing the ESD Logic Diagram

- Becoming skilled at creating a Cause and Effect Matrix

Please note, this training is not a software skills training. It is intended to sharpen participants' skills in reading process and safety discipline documents so that they can interpret them in a cause and effect matrix created in Excel format.
